Water on the highest floor of the Burj Khalifa is supplied through a complex multistage system that allows for extreme pressure in pipes and ensures the supply of water to all one hundred and sixty-three floors.

This is how it works:

• Water source. Water in the Burj Khalifa comes from Dubai's desalination plants, which convert seawater into drinking water.
• Multistage system. Water is not supplied to the top by a single powerful pump - this would be dangerous as huge pressure could burst the pipes. Instead, water is lifted in several stages, pumped from one technical floor to another.
• Technical floors with reservoirs. There are seven special technical floors equipped with water storage reservoirs and booster pumps that increase pressure throughout the height of the building. Technical floors are located, for example, on levels seventeen-eighteen, forty-forty two, seventy-three-seventy five and one hundred and fifty-five-one hundred and sixty-three.
• Pump operation. Pumps lift water to one technical floor. Then the next pump transfers it even higher, to the next technical floor. In this way, water \"is passed from hand to hand\".
• Use of gravity. When water reaches the upper reservoirs, it can be distributed to the floors below by gravity, reducing the load on the pumps.

The Burj Khalifa consumes about one million liters of water per day. This amount is comparable to filling an Olympic-sized swimming pool in about two and a half days. Moreover, the air conditioning system of the skyscraper collects condensate, which is also reused, contributing to the overall water supply.
